I have a 2001 (Y) C220 W203 and the EC REST Button is always on....with no air con ? What could the problem be....I had the air con recharged by lucas about 6 months ago and they confirmed the system had no leaks ?

Any help would be helpful.

Thanks

I believe when the light is off on my W202 the aircon is on and vice versa.

i.e. rest and it's doing exactly that

sounds like gas is low again, once pressure drops below certain level it stays on, ie air con does not switch on,

it could be pressure sensor or more likely you have a leak, its hard to trace minor leaks

Yes it is resting which means the aircon will not switch on. Is there any way of checking for leaks without paying the recharge fee again ?

This is not a leak problem, the sensors (2 of them) are faulty and they have been modified now, once changed it will be OK.

One more thing, if the gas was low (do you know how much they put in) the car must be plugged into STAR to turn it on.

When joined up to STAR it will tell you if there is a fault, but it still must be plugged in to activate it anyway

Mercedes 220 Cdi 203 Manual
Sorry to join then appear to jump in feet first ....
The fault description of this thread is the same description of the problem I have with my 2001 ... C Class 220 Cdi.
I was wondering if as suggested, "2 faulty sensors needing replacing" actually cured the problem of the EC button staying illuminated and the aircon not functioning as normal.
My car actually has the same problem and the pressure in the system is fine “had it checked yesterday” … I’m wondering as to what are the 2 actual sensors called that will need changing? … would they be the low and high-pressure inline switch sensors? ….
I don’t a manual “don’t think there is one to buy! … though I do have the WIS disc’s, but to be honest I’ve never had nothing but trouble using them.
Any help would be much appreciated indeed to identifying what parts I would need to resolve this problem …
Cheers Peter “hoggy”
