My local excellent ECU rebuilders ECUtesting in Ilkeston have stopped offering repairs on the sealed can Siemens SIM4L 5WK90 style units. They do all the earlier units but it seems these are a pain to dismantle. Has anyone had one of these particular units successfully repaired ? If so , by whom ?
It's clear calling around the UK that these ECMs are generally reliable so the repair trade is either not tooled up or reluctant. It's going to be sent to ECU.de in Germany who look a serious outfit and specifically advertise that they can tackle these units. Second hand units are around but beware that you need the matching EIS and ESL and the SRS unit may also be Vin coded on the later W203s so safer to ask them for that as well. If you can get the same part number brilliant but looking at EPC there were eight different numbers so go for same year and model spec might be OK. Good luck.
