I have a Merc C200 Kompressor (2000) and the engine management light on the dash is constantly on. I have had the car 3 years, I have taken it previously to Merc Aid (now Motor Aid) in Basildon Essex and was told that I needed a new air flow meter (I didn't get it done) I then took it back for a rear light not working and a problem with the ignition. I was then told that the engine management light was due to oil leaking into the ECU (I thought it was a sealed unit) from the loom and to replace the ECU loom and harness would cost £1,300-00.
I paid £277.00 for 3 hours and all they did was reset my seat (which isn't working again!!!) and fix a wire to the rear light and told me I needed a new key and ignition!! I am unsure what my next move should be. Any ideas anyone? I don't really want to go back to Merc Aid.

Hello and welcome, not good for you then right now.

That is a silly price for the loom and seal. the MAF will wash OK and so will the ECU.

Just trying to work out where you should go.

If it was mine I would take it down to Portsmouth to Prestige, as it would be worth the drive

I went back to them today and spoke to the manager, he was very helpful and my car is going in again on wednesday so they can have another look, so we will see. Got a new key F.O.C and it works so at least I won't have to replace the ignition!
