Hi, buying an E55 amg this week, wondering if any of you guys here in the uk have used a company called e-maps for an ecu upgrade with your e55's.

I used this company for my E46 M3 and managed to get upto 370bhp for only £250.00. However the AMG is quoted as going up to 560bhp and 780 torque. Is this really achievable?

Take a look for yourselves.

Thanks for your help.

Last night I was reading an MB service note article where it said, " if you suspect that the car has been re maped or chipped, refuse any warrantee work in any form . if you think the car hs been remapped, confirm with a read out".

That's all folks.

......and your insurance company would want more cash. If you choose not to tell them and did incur a claim, they would be within their rights to refuse to pay out. That said, if you can afford the car, then the additional insurance cost would not be a problem for you! If it's out of warranty, then the comment above wouldn't apply either

I tried to ask my ins co what difference it would make. Sent them the details of the smartbox I was considering but they still didn't understand the question which leads me to believe that 1) most people keep quiet and 2) if you did want proper cover, you'd probably have to go to a specialist insurer and pay accordingly.
Malcolms point is interesting. It would imply that maybe the best route (for us CDI users) is actually the smartbox type rather than a remap, as, so long as it's removed prior to inspection, it should be undetectable.
In any case, at least whilst under warranty, I think I'll leave mine standard.

Never mind if it's achievable, can the rest of the car, especially the transmission cope with that?

Remapping an E55  Where on earth would use that performance?

?

Not sure here Rory, the AMG 55 is not sold with the 7 speed box 722.9-- it only comes with the 5 speed 722.6--- as the 7 speed box cannot cope with the extra torque, it is not even used on the SL600.

I think that if you had a 350 and the top model was a 500 it would not do any harm, the worst as far as I can see is that you have to use super petrol, and where I live its 10p more with a 30 mile ride to fill up.
KC racing.se (Sweden) is one of the biggest and best Diesel chip manufactures.
in Sweden they come with a damage warrentee for the car, that 40 BHP gained can make a differnce and the cars are more ecconomical after being chipped.

Transmission can cope no problem, only concern I had would be the pulley/headers however I've been assured that this does not need to be changed to achieve these results.
