If you follow the wire back to instde the bulkhead there is a connetor there that you could test the resistance.
I'm not sure what the resistance should be though. I think the sensor is a coil arrangement, it may be that a digital meter will give some funny readings.
Turnsock is right that it is an inductive device, I think that allowing for the length of the cables, your two fronts should read the same, also the two back ones.
