I think I'm posting this in the right place (or maybe not...) I'm pretty impressed with it so I thought I'd tell some people.
Having driven 4 cars since December - C Class Saloon (W205), C Class Coupe (C205) then BMW 525 M Sport (insurance hire car, 65 plate) and now E Class Saloon 17 plate.
MPG on 60% urban 40% dual carriageway :
C Saloon = 42mpg, could get up to 50mpg on a good day
C Coupe = 47mpg, up to 52mpg on a good day so far.
BMW = good luck in getting it up to 40mpg (I got up to 48mpg on a run to wales).
E Class Saloon (which had only done 1300 miles when I got it) - just got back from dropping my son off at school 10 miles away and made 54mpg The weather's quite nice though so it's a pretty good day and the traffic wasn't bad as most schools have finished. If it was cold/rainy/windy I would expect that figure to be lower obviously.
Its also like driving a cloud, very smooth and comfortable.
But I still prefer my coupé, the saloons are not very "young" (although I'm not that young any more!), they feel like a bloke's company car.
