A popular mod on Land Rovers is to remove the EGR Valve.Can't see why the same can't be done on a Merc.It does give a little bit extra power.

Hi John, I have also put up somewhere all of the reasons why you should not remove it on an MB, will try and find it.

Exhaust gas recirculation valve,it returns harmful gasses back to engine when cruising.

It should do, when faulty, idle is rough and lumpy.

You can't without some serious electrical trickery, because the EGR is connected to a turbo.

So i aint got one then . as i dont have a turbo.

You probably do have one, in which case without the turbo its quite possible to disconnect it.
