Ehaust For 220CDI

Unfortunatly my exhaust is coming to the end of it's life. Question 10 year old 220CDI Estate, very small resale value, should I go for original MB parts, well expensive, or pattern parts? Advice please.

Hi Nick, i think you have answered your own post really my friend, Do you want to spend a shed load off money? i would ring round, unless your planing to keep the car for some years, ring around, see what the prices are like!

But I wouldn't want to drop myself or anybody else in the mire in the future. So maybe I could rephrase my question. Do substitute exhaust parts work as well as original? After all I may keep the car for a little time, and would hate to find after a few weeks if something else goes wrong; that there is a lot of sucking of teeth by a mechanic who says "well there yours problem mate". Forgive me, but I am not very mechanically wise. I'm OK with a hammer and nail, so need lots of help.Thanks in anticipation NickP

aftermarket systems are only any good if you go for a Type approved version like the Bosal premium stuff, your just wasting your time and money with all the buget ones. Genuine stuff is quite expensive aftermaket is your best bet. Bosal stuff sounds right and has a two year warranty.

Thanks very much to all, I have sourced a bosal system and the price is under £400. Hopefully I can get home to England in one piece and get the system installed. The amazing thing was my exhaust fell apart in France and the local Mercedse Garage did a repair, they put a spigot between the middle and rear sections, to get me home, (price 50 Euro) Can you imagine MB in England doing the same? I don't think so. Viva La France! The price in England for a MB exhaust system was about £1200, in France The MB price was 1000 Euro. Amazing the different price and attitude.
