elec windows

My 1998 C180 is fitted with elec windows to the front only the windows work if you press & hold the switch but if you press the switch down to the speed wind the window jams! do's anyone think that this could be a faulty relay?if so where is the relay housed.The reason I suspect the relay is that it seems strange but not impossible for both switches to be faulty at the same time

Welcome to the forum, your fault could be that the window channels are too tight.

The link shows where the window electrics join in, I do not know if there are any other relays as I cant find them.

thanks Malcom I'llcheck the runners out of course but as I say the windows run fine in the first switch mode

I cant see any reference to any relays, they are not in the boxes, they must in the doors as the wiring would be 10 fold, the switches themselves do get bad contacts and the soldering on the rear goes dry

I think the first thing to do then will be try the switches I stripped an old 300d centre console befor but were do you start on the c class

just to let you know cleaned the channals with wd40 problem solved cheers

When that dries out, use a Silicon spray the next time
