Electric aerial wiring help needed

Hi all, I'm new to this so pls bare with me, I have a c230 1992 and i've just removed the orriginal beker radio tape and replace it with a sony explode. My problem is the aerial. I've notcied that there are 2 wires running from the aerial which are brown and blue. The blue 1 was plugged into the Becker via a spade plug, i dunno what happened to the brown one. I connected the blue one to the antennae wire from the sony but the aerial doesnt extend when the radio gets turned on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys, great forum

Did it extend with the old radio?

I would be looking at the brown wire as maybe the problem.

Yeah it did, does anyone know what the wiring is for on those aerials? All i would need is what is the blue one for and what is the brown one for, then i should be able to fix it. Thanks for the quick reply

Your brown wire is the earth/ground connection.

Aaah now that explains alot, thanks man The brown needs to be earthed and the blue wire would then run to the aerial out of the tape. Hey Presto
