On the news today, the Gov may offer a £6k incentive to buy electric cars to help kickstart the economy.
My car has a battery can I claim £6,000?

Feed back, albeit it brief on the MG... (it's a lady who drives it, actually the business owner next door)
Reliable
Smooth drive
Easy to drive, switches in logical places
160 mile achievable electric range (no range anxiety as she charges at home and work)
She did have a Nissan Leaf before which she says was a better car in some ways (slightly better drive)
She's had it since September 2019, so about 9 months....
Hope this helps

Thankyou John for your taking the time to ask for us!
We are trying to book a test drive with mg in Kidderminster, so will wait and see.
With the incentives about seems the right time to look, although I think the £6k is through the scrapage scheme, which is criminal as there’s life left in the Touran yet! But along with the plug in grant £3k makes for some nice discounts.

Just for comparison - what prices are you looking at for the electric and non-electric version of the car?
It strikes me that in most cases you're not making any savings financially in switching to electric.

Well today we went to test drive a couple of the front runners, Hyundai Kona which the mrs said was a lovely drive, not bad for someone who’s never driven an auto!
Within 1/2 mile round bearwood she felt at ease with the controls.
But........ there’s absolutely no room in the drivers seat and center consol! Her thighs was Jammed in against it, plus I banged my head getting in the passanger side!
As for lifting little one into car seats in the back you must have to bend double to get them in!
So even though the drive and acceleration are great it’s a no from us.

Then we went to see the MG.

Regarding the Birmingham emission zone, to be exempt you need a Euro 4 petrol (post 2006) or Euro 6 diesel (post 2015).
Have a look at a Merc C220 2016 up to March 2017, its compliant & £30 a year road tax.
One of the reasons we bought a Dec 2016 SLC250d.

Hence deciding to go full angry pixie mode..
As I was saying we had a look at the mg....
So far we think it’s the one, I went with the impression it was going to be like an old yugo! Cheap Chinese crap plastic and badly designed everything!
Oooo how wrong I was! ****** hell the inside is on par with ford etal or I would dare to say close to Merc feel! Doors thunk when closed, compared it to my E class it sounds the same, it made the Kona feel cheap.
Full leather, loads of space, full paneramic roof that half the roof opens.... just a **** load of extras as standard.
The drive went well, if I could pick fault, the ride is on the bouncy side, also regen is a bit harsh, but can be turned down
All together a very well put together car. We were struggling to find anything we don’t like for a shopping kiddy trolly.
Soooo were going back tomorrow to see if we can get our double push chair in the back.
The deals that have been quoted are very good (nhs discount is fantastic!)
So will see what tomorrow brings

I couldn't buy an MG as it's made in China now and I am limiting what I buy from China....

Fair enough, I completely respect your view/ opinion, but the rest of the car manufacturers should be very worried including Tesla.

Not a choice for me at the moment.
For a town runabout I'd still stick with a small engine petrol car - Nissan Micra from £14k compared to Nissan Leaf from £27k. That's a lot of congestion charges and petrol to cover the difference.

Have a look at a Toyota Yaris Hybrid 5 door, might be a bit small for your needs?
My sister in law has one in London, no road tax or congestion charge. Makes a great town car. £15,500 new, & a best buy in Which Car for the last 3 years.

Picosecond = 1 trillionth of a second
Millisecond = 1 thousandth of a second

I didn't waste much time thinking about it...
