Have electric folding door mirrors on my CLC200 - got in the car yesterday and they would not unfold. There was a sound like the motor was attempting to unfold them but nothing. Had to manually push them out in the end. Any ideas as to what the prob might be ?

Possibly needs a bit of lubrication. With the mirrors folded spray some PTFE dry lube on the gears and pivot points. You might need to help them fold and unfold a couple of times..

Hi had another car bang my drivers side door mirror and thankfully it didn't break but was left dangling on the 3 cables so I disconnected it but forgot to remember where the connections go back one is ok but the other 2 are identical so don't know if they carry power or not and which one goes where any help (with pictures please) would be welcome ta!!

The black ones are for the heated glass and no polarity conscious, but you probably have 4 black ones

Still not resolved think its electrical or mechanical within the mechanism of the mirrors themselves.

Thanks for the response.

I have folding mirrors. Although they work in unison, they are separate in every other respect. So, since both of your seem to have stopped working at the same time, I would have suggested ice because you did say you could hear the motors whirring.

But since you are now saying that this situation has not been resolved, and that they are both not unfolding...this is strange...or mighty coincidental. And I'm afraid I have no solution other than to open them up to investigate.

If it's only one doing this, then I suspect a break in the mechanism. By coincidence, yesterday I had to take a part my o/s one because it was slow/non operational. I discovered that the housing for the motor was cracked thus not allowing the gear to engage properly.

My solution will be not use them. the only other solution would be to get a scrap yard item.

HTH.

Have you tried the PTFE lubricant and manual assistance a few times?

Will need to get some and try this - don't want to force the mechanism and break it though...
