Have found a local 10 year established Merc specialist who charges £55 ph compared to dealer charging £95 ph.
When visiting, spoke to 2 of thier present customers who praised them very highly and had been regularly using them for years.
Have booked car in to have roof repaired this wed 22nd.
Any tips on other known trouble spots to have checked whilst they've got the thing stripped out would be very much appreciated.
We all know that they should know what to look for, but being self-employed myself, I know that looking for other problems without the customers knowledge can prove time consuming with little or no thanks for it - usually!
Roof when opened horizontally was making a clonking noise when closed from half open to fully opened, until last week when it really clonked badly (even heard it above Golden Earings: Twilight Zone at 3/4 volume) and almost refused to close.
Havn't used roof since then, except to tilt upwards which still works fine.
Many, many thanks for any answers.
