My drivers seat goes back and forth whenever it feels like it... sometimes when I put on the brakes, sometimes when I hit the brake... It seems as though the track is not locking or the teeth are gone on the track or gear. If I hit the switch fwd or reverse and I can hear the motor run but the seat does not move... I took it to the shop and the guy said it was the switch.... I have a lot of respect for this particular mechanic but I am a pretty good electrician.. I was just probing him because of his experience as a Mercedes mechanic... has anyone out there had any problems with their seats and were any of them similar to what I described... The switch is expensive and removing the seats is a PITA... either way it will be costly but I don't think the switch and the gear train are fubar....I posted this note in the wrong forum..sorry.. rbarrett

I've moved it to the correct section. From you diagnosis it sounds like the seat mechanism rather than the switch. Can you lift it as high as possible and look from the rear passenger footwell at the mechanism?
