Electric window 300 sl 1992 - Interrmitent fault

My drivers side window has been playing up recently. I works sometimes very slowly and sometime not at all and I have to give it a bang to get it going. Also I have noticed that the felt lining in the door cavity is rubbing off  the window and leaving horrible tar stains on the glass. I tried to remove the door panel but could not remove the lock lever mechanism to fully get to the guts of the cavity. Sprayed some silicone spray but it did not do anything still have to bang it every time it stops. Any ideas chaps? I would be most obliged if someone could tell me how to remove the door panel fully.

Hi Peter

It sounds like the sound dedening is coming of and traping the window or mechanism. Or the motor requires replacement. The lock lever mechanism from memory. Flick out the black plastic trim. Remove screw behind. The chrome trim where the door handle attaches. Flicks of with a small flat screw driver. Remove screw behind. Every thing else should be self explanatory.
