M-B C240 2000yr (W202) The rear offside electric window has recently failed, will not move up/down though the motor was operating (slight noise when switch operated). By operating the switch i managed to get the mechanism to allow me to manually (gripping each side of the window) close it. Not a major problem i thought until i tried to remove the inner door trim! I first had to remove the cover over the door latch mechanism, no problem, 1 x crosshead screw 1.
Next i had to remove the handle cover, previous write up in forum suggested prising off carefully. The problem is i was not sure where the cover was attached and how hard to prise. Only when i eventually removed the cover having used a great deal of force i could see that there are 3 barbed clips (centre and each end) as shown in the picture.
Having removed this cover and breaking one of the clips (superglue is a wonderful product!) i could then remove the 2 x crosshead screws located under the 2 x outer barb location positions 2 & 3.
At this point i was able to unclip the trim from the door which came away quite easily. I then had to unplug the window switch, simply pull down, and the door release mechanism. This consisted of a bar from the locking mechanism to the handel which was secured to the handle by a small black plastic clip. I was able to reach in and unclip the bar by moving the clip at a 90 degree angle away from the bar thus allowing the bar to move upwards and free.
Now to the fault....
The window operates on a cable pully mechanism which had corroded and snapped. Unfortunatly the drive pully is also damaged (possibly through me operating the window switch with the cable broken!) this pully is part of the runner bar for the window and so I need to locate this assembly with cable and pully......... can anybody help or point me in the direction of a supplier?
