my electric windows and sunroof operate when the ignition is off and the key is out. Is this correct behaviour or do i have some sort of electrical fault/short?
I believe they are supposed to operate when the driver's door is open for a fixed period (2 mins or something). After that they stop working completely.
Should work for as long as the door is open, or ignition on (no fancy battery savers here) if they are working with the door shut and the key out then several things could cause this. early cars had problems with shorting comfort circuit diodes (in fusebox rear compartment, behind the bulb check unit, this would also make the wipers or the radio come on (if still switched on) when the door was opened. later cars may have a fault with either the small white comfort relay in the compartment behind the fusebox (6 screws) or the window / roof control unit under the rear seat (n/s i think)
Also has someone fitted an alarm with window closing units, and either one of the units has a stuck relay, or someone has wired the comfort circuit to stay on (saves a relay).
You lost your key ? Or maybe you need a spare!
