Hi, I know 190 electric windows are prone to problems and I have scoured the forum for an answer. Both rear windows on my 1988 2.3-16 are not working. One has power at the switch and I suspect that both motors are seized and at least one has a broken cable in the door closing area. The problem I have is that both windows are stuck in the closed position and I can't get them to move down which prevents me from removing the regulator and motor from the inside of the door. Any help on how to get the regulator freed up? Thanks, Malcolm.

update

Ok, so I dived in anyway. I found one motor seized (search on for a replacement) and the other side the wiring had broken up in the door hinge area (the mechanism itself runs OK). I replaced the wiring and reassembled the trim etc etc. Now the front windows don't work either! and I still don't have any power on the side I 'fixed' at the rear. I had the battery disconnected while I did the work (in case you're wondering). What have I done?

Hooray

I bought a new relay from Merc and fitted it in the position in the fuse box where according to my CD it should be and all OK again, including the replacement wiring in the rear door hinge.

CD Manual for 2.3-16

Hi Stevie, I bought it on ebay - where else? Actually it was a good buy. I only paid a few pounds but it has been very useful especially given there is no alternative that I know of. It takes a bit of ploughing through until you get the stuff you want but does seem to be a copy of an MB product. I was concerned that it was American but havn't found it to be a problem so far and as I said it cost very little. Check the buyer feedback before you buy. Good luck.
