Does anyone know how to get into the centre console area where the electric window switches are on a 190e (Auto). The damn driver window wont go down anymore! How much would it cost at MB to fix, any idea?

Thanks

The fault could just as well be in the door as to be in the switch, by the same token as when you turn a light on in your house it would be the bulb or holder thats more prone to failure than the switch.

You do not need to go to MB for this as any indie or auto electricians could fix this fault.

To get the centre console part out you place a thin wide wedge along its rear edge and lever it up. Be carfull the top face is likely to de-laminate and spoil the face of the cover.
Before you take this off may I suggest that you check the integrity of the wires that pass from the door post to the door they are prone to breaking due to frequent bending as the door is operated. To do this you need to remove the door trim panel and the pillar cover, Haynses book of lies will help you with this.

Thanks for the info - i suspect its the switch as it has gone 'soft' when you push it - unlike the other three + the up on it which all have some pressure to the touch, i thought it has been a bit suspect for a while. Might just take to an indie as dont fancy chancing spoiling the laminate especially when its in vgc for its age.
