Hi,
I took my car in for MOT today to Mercedes in Stockport. Not had any problems with the car since I bought it in June (2016 E220).
I returned 8 hours later to be told that they had replaced the nox sensor. I asked why and the gentleman advised me that “your EML was on when you brought it in”. Well I nearly fell off my chair!! I am an amateur mechanic and am pretty well versed in maintaining cars. I have had very bad experiences with previous cars with the EML coming on time after time and I am not the type of person to ignore this (I’m Quite OCD).
I just don’t believe that the light was on and that I would not have noticed it immediately. In my previous car, the screen flashed up with “engine fault - repair needed” accompanied by an audible sound.
so my question is, what happens when the EML comes on? Is it a small orange engine block sign on the dash? And does any other warning appear on the screen?
I was also advised that they had “carried out the recall work”. I was not informed of any recall, certainly not when I purchased the car from Mercedes in London, so I’m slightly annoyed by that. Apparently it was a software update but the gentleman was very cryptic and I can’t be sure of that.
Customer experience was very stressful. Upon taking the car in this morning, I was hoping to speak with somebody but instead, I was ushered to a computer terminal to ‘check in’ with no human contact.
Just wondered what the EML looks like in the W212
thanks
