My first post...here goes....
Gents, I have found the following codes as part of the process of looking to service the car myself. My background is as an 'interested amateur' with a long history of motor bikes and some car servicing...rebuilt engines and gearboxes before. But they were not like this....this 7g box looks like nothing I have attempted before. I am happy to get stuck in, however I am aware there are dangers with the need for specialist knowledge equipment and skills. I accept if the job is too technical I will need a professional with experience. Hence to some extent my post...
Engine
P200A00 The charge movement flap (Cylinder Bank 1) has a malfunction. Stored, Test failed since last clear.
I am not aware of any symptoms from this fault.
and on the gearbox..a 722.9
2783 The friction power of the torque converter lockup clutch is too high.
The only symptoms I have seen is occasional slightly jerky gear changes in lower gears. But probably most people in the car would not notice!
I have cleared these codes previously then they return after a few miles.
Car has 59000 miles serviced by both main and independents till my purchase last Sept. At that time 47000mls the gearbox fluid was changed by the used car business I bought if from.
My scanner is a Snap-on Verus (2011 software). I think it wont find all the systems on the car so I planned to get it looked over by an Independent with up to date Merc software. I am not sure who?
I live near Crewe/Nantwich in Cheshire, can anyone recommend a good MB Independent garage in the region? I am ok to travel a bit if needed.
I would also welcome any thoughts you may have in resolving these faults if it can be done by me.
I have read a few long posts about auto boxes with various nightmares on here.... so I am a little twitchy about the gearbox fault....it sounds like it could be expensive !
thanks for any help you can give me.
