I have 2000 E320 sedan . What I am narrating has happened twice but its worrisome.
My engine cuts off while driving. No warning light, gas gauge reads ok , engine temperature is about 100 F. Outside temperature (weather ) was 90 F. Lots of stop and go traffic. If I restart after waiting for approx 5 mins everything is ok. But before those approx 5 mins the alternator will try to restart the engine but the engine does not start. Checked coolant level its ok too, no leaks nothing.
S belt is fine. This happens usually at the stop lights or at idle . Note when the car is running on a highway the temp level goes down and everything is ok [ well it never happened at highway speeds but who knows in the future :-( ] engine Temperature reading was never over 100 F. So colling system may not be the culprit. Any clues what is causing this ? I am stumped ...Would appreciate help !!!!

randiz, I'm confused

do you mean celsius or fahrenheit when you quote the tempertures. If mine were running "fully warm" at 100 F I'd be scared, but 100 C I could understand some heat troubles creeping in.
