Engine cuts out on tickover.

My C180 N Plate Auto has developed an intermittent fault in that some times it will not start without setting the accelerator. it will then run but stalls as soon as you release the power.embarrising at junctions if it stalls. as i said it is intermittent. No fault shown at the garage as apparently this model does not show all faults on the computer read out. Any advice welcomed.The vehicle has not been used regulary over the past three months but started every week,

Check the condition of your spark plugs and whilst at it gety a compression test done.

engine started weekly but car not been used for 3 months.

Very bad.

All you have been doing is pouring petrol into the engine.

The plugs will be gummed up.

First thing to do is take the car on a good long run say 30 miles on an uncongested motorway to "blow the cobwebs out".

Then see how it performs in your normal local driving.
