let me get this straight, you turn off the car by turning your key to the off position and your engine cuts out.

that's normal as far as I can tell, so what exactly is your problem ?

cheers

Simple Eric, you turn the key off and the engine stops, thats normal as Anyweb says. If I stick a matchstick in the valve of the car next door, the tyres go down.

I think he means that the engine cuts off as if you turn off the key.Obviously English is not his first language.

Can you tell us a bit more ?. Does it restart immediately after or do you have to leave it for some time before it will restart ?.

Perhaps hes saying that the engine doesn't shut down when he turns the key.

In which case, it could be the fuel shutoff valve, or it could be oil getting into the cylinders.

I Have These Problems From Few Month And Are The Followings:
Sometime When I Turn The Key In Start Position Non All The Ligths Are On And If I Attempt To Put The Key In The Run Position The Engine Does Not Start ( Non Starter Crank).
In This Case I Turn The Key Off And Try Again And The Starting Process Is Regular , The Engine Start Regular And The Idle Is Regular.
Sometime During Engine Running While I Am Driving My Car The Engine Cuts Off. And I Have To Turn The Key In Off Position And Restart The Engine. When It Appened The Engine Restart Normally!!can You Help Me In Understandig Me What Appened????

Sounds like a faulty ignition switch.

It is the ignition switch (key switch) that will cause you problem, the is confirmed by the engine stopping when you drive it.

You must change the switch as the contacts inside are faulty.

Hey India,

You will really need to work on your skills to explain things.

I know what ur talking about as i have been there.

The engine just cuts off and then you have to turn the switch to zero then crank the engine again right.

IF yes then welcome to the world of Mercedes wiring issue... read the net there is a ton of issue with sub standard wires used by the great MB and our cars come in that slot... i too have a C250D.

The reason for this is the " shutoff " valve is off suddenly as the wires are shorting. Fix the wires and ur troubles will go.

Cheers

I had the exact same problem long time ago. It was the Engine Speed
Sensor that was malfunctioning and had to be replaced.

In my case, it would happen at any speed. I could be on hiway driving at
80mph and the engine would cutoff or I could be driving very slow and it
would cutoff.

Hope this helps you fix the problem. Let us know.

Thanks,
Arvind.
