I only work on cars but I have seen quite a few CDI engines with blown turbo's that fill the exhaust with oil, this is usually due to lack off servicing and poor quality oil
disconecting the turbo via the air pipes would not make any difference to an oil seal/ bearing failure if the seal is deffective it will pump large amounts of oil directly into the exhaust.
The best test is to remove the turbo and inspect both turbine blades and bearings
