Engine idling then cutting out

Hi,

My 300e 24v has developed a problem. To get it started I have to pump the accelerator which sometimes with little effect. Once it does fire up if I release the accelerator the revs drop to sub 1000 (about 500) and then the engine cuts out.

It’s booked into a garage next week but to avoid me getting ripped off is their any advice you can offer so I can point them in the right direction? or perhaps something I can check before hand?
