C Class Cabriolet 2016 2.1 Litre Diesel W205
Hello,

I've recently purchased a 2016 2.1 Litre C Class Cabriolet, with the W205 OM651 engine. I've seen a few things online about timing chain tensioner issues with the W204 (previous generation) however was just wondering if my current car also have tensioner issues, or if Mercedes rectified this problem.

The car seems to run smooth at the moment, it has only covered 65K miles, just wondering if in the near future I'll need to get the tensioner replaced. I had read these engines are pretty solid, however coming from my previous Jaguar XF which was riddled with problems, I want to make sure I'm not making the same mistakes again.

Thanks,
George

Exactly as above. My changes, are every Yr regardless and normally about 5,8 k miles it's cheapest preventative maintianenance u will ever do don't even need a spanner now, suck out, pour In and I use old oil and white spirit to preserve my fences n sheds. Win, win!

Yes, if you want an engine to last a very long time 3k miles oil changes are the ultimate protection but not practical for most unless you do low miles as I do. As above keep the changes <8k miles if you can

I’ll echo the above.

Wave a 2 finger salute to so call scheduled service intervals as thy are nothing but utter stupidity to provide people with the illusion of lower service costs. In reality it’s designed to fvck your car up faster and give you lots of niggly issues in between. Can’t beat good old fashioned servicing!

Even if you do low mileage do consider a 6 month oil change. Our CLS only does about 5k p/yr but is used locally during the weekdays and motorways on weekends. I change the oil and filter every 6 months on it.
