Engine light illuminated

Hello,

This is my first post here so excuse any mistakes, I have recently had my engine illuminate on my A200d AMG Premium (Early 2017).

The car will lose full power when this happens and I guess this limp mode? Once I turn the car off and on power returns but engine light is still active, if I proceed to turn the car off again the engine light will vanish so I assume it's somewhat fixing itself? After reading the codes I receive "P04011 - Exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient" My local garage have said I will need a replacement EGR which looks to be rather expensive and I wouldn't want to replace this if it isn't the direct issue.

I wonder if anyone has had this same issue? Another thing I have noticed it will only come on going slow, so this can be driving round town or parking up at the supermarket and setting off again. I have never noticed illuminate motorway driving. Car feels absolutely fine again once its restarted so really have no idea! Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

You could try cleaning the egr out with oven cleaner.

If it seems goosed nuthin to loose, however it wud not be reccomended to try oven cleaner in situ

Hi mate, what did you end up doing I’ve been having the same issue with mine! I’ve had it cleaned and it’s been no help it’s still having issues.

Any fixes guys?

As a follow on, on the older engines (om611/12/13) its usually the inlet manifold egr passages that block up, rather than the egr itself. Giving the same codes.

I put diesel cleaner in everytime I fill up.. engine light is noticeably less frequent. Only time it comes on is why I’m crawling in traffic or going under 30mph
