Engine Management light just come on

Hi there

I have a Mercedes 1.8K estate on 53 plate, and the yellow engine light has just come on - obviously looked in manual but some advice if possible:

1) Assume I need either main dealer of special Mercedes garage with diagnostic capability

2) I live Cardiff area - anyone know any specialist garages (not main dealer) in Cardiff/Bridgend area who are reputable (have look in yellow pages etc but was wondering if anyone had used any)

3) Even though light on - car feels normal, no noise, juddering or anything like that and in fact if light wasn't on, I wouldn't know any difference. Would anyone recommend not driving it (short distances only) as it just seems like a normal car at moment
