Does replacing the engine mounts on 130k 300CE, make a really noticeable difference ?

It will if your old ones are on the way out, especially if the engine starts moving around......

I have been advised to replace two of the engine mounts in my 300E after noticing that one end of the engine was quite a bit lower in the engine compartment than the other. This apparently applies excess pressure onto the chassis which of course is not good long term for the car. I have been given an estimate of £200+ all in for the job, based on around £65 per mounting pin and two hours labour.

Normally easy to replace, just jack the engine slip the old out, and the new in.thats it, just like that. sometimes I have just replaced the faulty one

It was just a figure of speech,( or type in this case) of how easy it is to do

If the alignment of the engine is suspect I would be more inclined to think of the rear mounting particularly (under the gearbox). Also easily replaced.

It is well worth spending the money....I've had them done recently on a 300E and on a 300CE and they made a noticeable difference to smoothness.

Also if you leave them too long they can end up causing exhaust manifold problems where they join to the down-pipes.
