Hello,

First time mercedes owner (2005 C220 Cdi). Trying to order oil for a service and I'm getting more and more stuck! Yes, I've read through pages of forum questions on oil and I am non the wiser.

I don't think there is a DPF on the car (no extra 'box' behind rear Kat) and there is a label on the engine that reads '229.1'

In the handbook for the car, it states without DPF the oil should be 229.3 or 229.5.

What do I go for? I am also somewhat confused as to why the label on the engine would be different to the two oils mentioned in the handbook?

I am sorry, I know oil questions frustrate many people, I am getting more confused every time I read a new page though!

Many Thanks

My data for your car is saying 229.3 without DPF and 229.31 with a DPF. If you are unsure if you have a DPF or not you can run 229.31 with or without a DPF.

You can also use 229.5 and 229.51 the same way. Not sure why it has a 229.1 label on the engine.

Cheers,

Guy
