Computor reading oil level OK, reading 7500 mls approx B service.
Question! should I change the oil and filter anyway? Will be short running around town mostly.
Question! The A/T oil and filter will that need changing or opt for condition checked?
The car is running well.
Thanks in advance.
Info appreciated.

If you dont know when the gearbox oil was last changed, get it changed. Your gbox might show as a sealed for life box, thats nonsense and they are serviced the same way.

Same with the engine oil, but if the level is ok and it looks clean (not thick black but suspended) then leave it.

Where are you based, got a good indy nearby?

Question, does the computor read the A/T?

Stop worrying, hows the service history on the car?
Coolant should be replaced at 15 years.
When was fuel filter last done.

If the MB service shedule has been done in the past i wouldnt worry...

Enjoy the car!

COMPUTOR READS! service B due 7500miles .PREVIOUS OWNER! said it had been serviced when due.I felt it might be better to change the engine oil, filter anyway as will be doing a lot of short shunting around town everyday.I'll mention the fuel filter! Thanks for inerest, always appreciated.

I know owners want to do the right thing with/for their cars but is it not an absolute waste of time and money changing oil/filters/ etc when there really is no need. It's like taking paracetamol because you think a pain might come from somewhere.

If there is any doubt about the service history, I would change the oil in the engine & gearbox. Just not worth taking the risk, & could cost you a lot more in the long term.

Indeed and can understand that. But what I'm writing about are those who change oil, filters, etc, every 5000k or thereabouts. Surely that's a complete waste of money as there is absolutely no need to do so. Don't get me wrong, I know some people think they're doing the right thing and it is their own choice, but with modern engines, etc, it makes no sense at all.

I’ve just this morning changed the oil on a pals Cayman 718. He bought it new, 7700 miles on it. Not a year old yet. Porsche say 15,000 for an oil change. You’d have thought it was a diesel from the colour of the oil that came out of it!
If you can’t be certain of the history, an oil change will do no harm

You said the service indicator said 7,500 miles to the next service, have you got the last service invoice? If not anyone can reset the service indicator at any time, so you won't know when the oil was last changed.
