Could anyone shed some light on why ,when I come to a stop my c200 (w reg 2000 )occassionally stalls.the rev counter drops almost to 0 before it bounces back to between 5 and 10. When the car is sitting idling the revs are around 7.5

Sounds like a problem with your throttle housing. Give it a clean out. While you're there, clean out your air mass meter & check for any obvious air leaks. It may need to go on a diagnosis machine to re set "adaptations".
