engine steam clean

I was thinking of steam cleaning everything under the bonnet as it`s pretty filthy.Has anyone ever done this? and is there anything I need to be carefull of.Thanks

I think that you would be better off with cans of de greaser,they dont cost much,Steam cleaning is OK but it does lead to the start of rust in the corners and exposed metal fittings.

i have just done mine its the 2.5 td sport its now spotless and it looks brand new after i did this i blew all dry with my compressor and then i sprayed it with clear laq

Mr Muscle oven cleaner, but dont get it on anything rubber, wash away with hose pipe but at a trickle,
