We are working on a 1994 Mercedes 300E diesel, which has a starting/engine problem.
If we do get it running, the only way to stop it is by shutting off the air intake under the bonnet.
To start it, it turns over and over. we remove part of the air induction (the centre part) and it fires up eventually.
When the induction centre part is put back on, the engine won’t rev up.
Any clues or advice, greatly appreciated.
