Hello everyone.

About a month ago whilst driving on the motorway at 70 mph a bird made a mess on the windscreen and instead of turning on the wiper I mistakenly changed the gear selector whilst driving. This triggered an engine management light and has since stayed on.

Not quite sure of what to do to remove the warning light.

Plug it into a diagnostic machine that is capable of reading Mercedes modules and see what the issue is.

What car is it? (Not listed in your profile}

Please try disconnecting the Negative terminal of battery
and connecting it back after 15 secs or so. This should reset
the engine light.

Most will recommend an icarsoft MB 3 as a good reasonably affordable unit. I personally use a Foxwell NT644 Pro and find it works well with all of the cars on the drive.

Doubt it. Cars are far too clever for that.
