Hi,

I was driving home from work yesterday, stopped in traffic and the engine cut out on me.

I am driving a 2000 R129 SL280 with 51,000 miles on the clock.

I tried several times to start it up straight away but it wouldn't start.

I got help pushing it to the hard-shoulder.

So I left it for about 10mins then tried again and it started up but after a minute it cut out on me again.

I left it again for about 10mins and it started up so this time I was able to drive off and get it to the garage.

Any ideas what may have caused this?

Thanks.

Thanks for that!

I should have that covered under my warranty as I only have the car 1 month and it came with a 1 year warranty.

I managed to find some info for my symptom:

The engine will not start. You can hear the starter motor operating.
There may be a malfunction in the engine electronics.

  • There may be a malfunction in the fuel supply.
Turn the key back to position 0 in the ignition lock before the next starting attempt.

  • Try to start the engine again more. When doing so, remember that excessively long and frequent attempts to start the engine will drain the battery.

  • If the engine does not start after several attempts: Consult a qualified specialist workshop.
