We are what, 4-5 days into a warmer spell.

First four threads all A/C related. If I were that clown, Ainsley Harriot, i'd be tempted to say "what are we like" :)

I wouldn't care if the air con wasn't working. Just wind the windows down, open the sunroof and go for a nice drive along the coast with some decent music on the stereo - there aren't many better ways to cool down.

I used to have company cars, and I can remember the thrill amongst the 'rep' community when Ford started including a sunroof to all fleets. We had Vauxhall Cavaliers, but they soon followed suit. Think that was around 1985.
For everyday use, I thought Power Steering was the best addition - those Cavaliers were hard work in town on a hot day.

It was a really big deal when my then employer agreed to add a/c as an option the Mondeo I got in 1994/5. It was a £500 option and pretty well unheard of on that level of car. Yet my wife's Clio in 1998 came with a/c and a sunroof as standard.

We switched to 'prestige' cars more recently, but I managed to wangle several Peugeot 406 Exec's. I wouldn't buy one with my own money, but as a company car, having 'elec/memory/heated/leather' or just 'cloth' (as well as a very effective digital climate control system, and Sat Nav as standard) seemed a no-brainer to me.

The air-con queries keep on coming!!!

I must admit that having had air-con in a van I wouldn't want to do without it now.

I remember doing an entire summer in my old 307D with the blowers on full heat as the radiator wasn't up to the job of cooling on its own. It was quite a relief when it finally sprung a leak and had to be replaced although it was late autumn by then and a lot cooler anyway.

I had to hire a van for a day last year - it was blinking hot on the day and the people in the hire place thought it was hilarious when asked if they had any with a/c!

I did enjoy driving it for the day though (although not a single lorry driver flashed at me :( ), and my kids thought it was brilliant - they asked if we could hire a van again, just for fun!

Trouble with that is that every man and his wife has the same idea about a nice day by the coast and you end up spending the day stuck in a traffic jam in blazing heat, not my idea of a nice day.
