I Have a W210 E320 CDI (2000) when I floor it (use the kick down) when over taking etc. the Engine cuts out and the EPC light comes on and then I have to leave it for a while before it will start again. This is annoying, Embarrassing and very dangerous.

Please can any one help me I want to get this sorted.

Thanks BOBBY

Could be several things the most obvious would be the MAF sensor,, could be EGR valve stuck

The EPC I am almost sure is the valve at the rear end of the fuel rail. ..electronically controlled and it measures and controls the fuel pressure within the system.. you need to get it checked on a diagnostic machine...

J O E we can only give you guidance as to what the fault may be, I think you need to get a good indie to have a look at your car, its frustrating i know, but sometimes a fresh face can see deeper and find your elusive fault. where in the world are you, and someone will find you a good indie.....or at least someone with a star diagnostic machine ...

Hi,

I have same problem with mine. Just been diagnosed as a leak on the a gearbox seal which pumps oil into the gearbox control module (thro' the wiring insulation would you believe). If you check in the pin connector Pass side under bonnet you should find oil which drops into module. The fix is about 200 quid if you change oil and filter in gearbox. Hope this helps... Simon.

Looking under bonnet on right hand side is a cover just beyond positive battery terminal (with air conditioner sticker on it). Unsrew 4 retaining screws and you will see a bank of fuses and some multipin connectors. Pull the right one out (part no 210 4540703) and you may see oil on the pins and inside. If you have this drops onto the gearbox control unit and messes up signals etc. Good luck, Simon

Hi Bobby,

I have finally found the problem with my car after giving up and taking my car to MB and I am now very much lighter in the pocket. Your problem sounds the same as mine - mine was compounded by the gearbox code errors which have now been solved also.

There is a throttle sesor ( code 542 33 17 - £103 + vat) under bonnet on the end of the throttle cable. Change that and I think your problems will disappear. Sorry for incorrect diagnosis before. Simon.
