My wife has an A140 Auto with a problem.
The ESP/BAS light and the ABS light come on when they feel like it. Since it has started doing this the gearbox has now gone into emergency mode.( gears 2 and reverse only). Letter F in display
Are the 2 faults connected? any ideas?
I do not want to start looking at auto gearbox repairs, if it is an electrical/control box issue
Recently had the ECU/Air mass meter repaired. could that be connected?

Swapped the brake switch but no change. Lights still coming on and off.
I will have to takeit ( slowly in 2nd gear !) to have the codes read. Any ideas what it could be?

You need to get the codes read first and go from there,

Bad news. The elecritical fault has caused a pressure imbalance in the gearbox causing major damage. The fault was due to a repair on the air mass meter repair incorporating the ECU, which was not done incorrectly causing this damage to the auto box.
This info is from the autobox specialist.
Has anyone ever heard of this before? ECU damaging autobox ??

Car at the gearbox specialist awaiting diagnosis.
Has anyone heard of this happening before?
The initial garage that carried out the 'repair' on the ECU are not prepared to repair the gearbox without proof that they caused the problem. how do I do that??

Auto gearbox has been repaired ( new clutch cover fitted ) at £1800 !!
The car still has the warninglights on. Next thing the garage is going to try is to rplace the 'BUS Control Module' Whatever that is.
Anyone had that replaced?

This may not be much help to you, but have you done a search on this and the other forum on A class gearbox problems?
I seem to recall they have a reputation for failing.
