Hi folks.
has anyone experienced the esp coming in and applying the brakes at 80mph? (on the motorway). esp warning light came on @ sametime as "independant front wheel braking"then BAS?ESP fault light lit. After car being switched off for 20 minutes the BAS?ESP light doesnt come on (no fault stored?) only to suffer same fate on return trip home..... Booked in @ local dealers but not confident of tracing fault.. car is a 2000 clk 230 k
Thanks

They should be able to trace the fault as I'd be very suprised if it hadn't stored the activation details and the fault codes. It sounds like a sensor went awry and tricked the esp into thinking there was a problem, then when the other sensors didn't tally, it shut itself off. I guess with any electronic system it could happen.

It could be just a dirty sensor, slightly lose wheel bearing

Had a similar incident with my CLK a while back. Several warning lights came on at once and the car locked in 3rd gear (apparently as it should). I called out MB breakdown and he simply did a system reset at the roadside. According to the MB engineer, the bus on the onboard computer on this model is prone to 'glitches' now and again and he said he gets called out regularly.

Apart from that one incident, however, I've never had another like that
