Hello all,
I am new to this forum so let me introduce myself first. I am Sam. Owner of an S430 Year 99 (CAT D)....

And this is where all the problem started.. (should never buy an CAT D)
When i have bought it, it have came with ESP error and causing the ABS not working..

I took it to garage thought that it was a piece of cake.
Garage guy looked at it and plug his handheld and read that it was the brake pads cable, changed that.
Then it was something else and changed that as well.. and a few more things can't remember..
Then he suggested to change the ECU and also the cable as he suspected that the cable is messed up along the ECU..

As for me I think I have been ripped off enough from him and want to get advice from people who have owned a Mercedes.. And possible suggestion to whereabout I can get some cheap parts from S430..

There are also a couple of things that need replacing i.e the plastic bit cover along the leather seats etc...

Any suggestion will be welcomed...
Thanks alot

This could be anything from the Steering rack ECU or the front SAM , ABS sensors or the speed sensor. All impossible to comment on.

It needs some with a scope who can check where the signals stop and start.

I have spent last 3 hrs reading up the whole forum and find out that it seems alot of people have the same problem as well.
could it be the brake light switch?

The brake light switch will affect the ESP/ BAS but not the ABS.

well my car is on the way to HK at the moment and once i have got it
I will check whether the ABS is shown on the system..

I definitely remember ESP and BAS to be one of them though..
And a garage guy suggested me to change the wiring loom with the ECU..

ESP Problem

Hi Samtam, The S430 is an American build and the ESP wiring has an available modification, but this does not always cure the problem and the ESP control unit usually ends up being changed. Anyway you sent me an email and I have replied, by the time your car arrives in Honkers, you will have a contact to get it checked out.;)

Hi, Ive a 2000 S320 which had intermittent ESP, BAS & ABS warnings which were cured by replacing the battery (as recommended by someone on this forum)

Well I think the battery has been changed already.
Same as the sensors and lots more parts.
Now i am just waiting for the car to arrive (estimate end of March) and then i will see if i can get hold of a contact from Eric to have a look and hopefully sort it out once and for all.
