Hi again everyone, I have a 52 reg C220 CDI Classic merc. Over the last couple of months i have noticed that the ESP becomes either unavailable or computer says take to dealer. However after a while of driving the fault disapears?! The warning triangle never comes on just the computer. This usually occurs first thing in the morning and especially whens its been freezing cold. The car handles fine though.

It seems a bit sparadic as to when this warning message comes on, but it never comes on halfway through a drive or anything? Any idea out there, if its helps the mileage is about 96k

many thanks in advance

There was a mod to ESP wiring loom on 203s. Phone your local dealer, it may still be under a warranty recall even though it's over 3 years old.

If on the original battery, this can trigger the ESP lamp due to voltage falling to low on a start. 3 turns lock to lock puts the lamp out. If it only happens first thing in the morning it will be battery, otherwise as Type 49
