Hello,I hoping you can help me with a problem I have on my W140 S320 '97 model. The ABS+ETS warning lights come on randomly and I loose power steering at the same time.

Normally if I stop the car and restart her the lights go out normally and theres no problem untill they come on again, which can be after 5mins,2 hrs or sometimes a couple of days.

I'm hoping to get some advice as to what it may be so I can go to the relevant mechanic/auto electrician or even the merc dealer if needed and save a lot of money on useless diagnostics etc.

Thanks in advance

Brake light switch can be a possible cause, or in wet weather water in a wheel sensor or abs connection

I've replaced the brake light switch and that didn't work sadly.

This started after I had the n/s front shocker replaced and comes on totally random,I get loss of power steering and the ETS+ABS lights come on simultaneously...the fact if it's wet or dry doesn't make a difference.

I have it booked in with Prestige German Cars of South Shields on tuesday so hopefully they can help.

1 last question:Is it posssible that these sensors(if it is one) get dirty etc and can be cleaned?Should i try cleaning them before I take it in?

Thanks in advance

Got the car back today and it's perfect so far,no signs of the problem :)

In the end it was a rear ABS sensor that was faulty so Prestige replaced it,£190 was the damage...not too bad tho I do hate getting a diagnostic charge :/

Anyways good job Prestige German Cars of South Shields, the car was still very clean inside and out so they obviously take due care when carrying out work.
