Hello, all; I recently saw a 1981 280 SE which sold new in Germany. It had manual windows, cloth seats, wheel covers, no air bags, and a nice 6-cylinder engine. I thought it was an attractive package, and presume the cost was much lower than similar US-destined models. The question I have is: are the current models sold in Germany and the UK available in a wider range of equipment (and cost) than the US models?
Regards, Randy

Mercs sold in the UK and europe can come very basic virtually everything has to be paid for as an extra over the list price. In germany E class mercs are the equivalant of your basic large family car.

Standard models basically come with an engine, somewhere to sit and something to keep the weather out. As you describe  Still fantastic nonetheless
