The future sil has taken delivery of a hybrid Range Rover.
A nice car for sure.
Anyways he was about to order a charger for about £1K, I suggested seeing about a 2nd hand unit, as many people having tried the EV route are seemingly not massively impressed.
He picked up a 7Kw (single phase) Solo Smart charger for £1.50
So I ran a 6mm2 supply to it.
The principle of a 7Kw supply to a 7Kw end unit isn't so straight forward though, apparently.
But to his issue.
The car will plug into a 13A socket, and his RR app tells him it will take 15 hours to charge.
The 2nd hand charger links to his phone via the house wifi.
He has swapped the assignment to the charger with the manufacturer.
He plugs his type 2 plug into the charger,
Charger shows green, and is apparently charging.
But maybe 30 seconds and the charger goes red and isn't charging.
I haven't interrogated the apps, but it seems to me that there is either an inhibit within the charger (app), that could be over ridden.
Or the charger is faulty.
Has anyone experience that might shed some light on this?
