Hello everyone it’s me again.
I have a question that I pretty much fear the answer for cause I know it’s not a good one.
I recharged the A/C system on my 1987 420SEL and took it for a drive.
Nice cool air!
I parked the car and left it for the night. When morning came and I backed the car out of the garage and noticed that there was a puddle of clear oil (Easter Oil) on the garage floor located where the center of the car would be and back as far as the firewall (partition between engine and passenger compartment).
My question is how common is it for the evaporator to rupture or could this be that the expansion valve has gone bad to cause such a leak?
Anyways the leak and a rather big one I assume has occurred somewhere in the heater housing catching the Ester Oil and allowing it to run out the condensation tube.
My fear is that this is a dash out repair that is very expensive to have done. Or could it be the expansion valve that can be repaired by removing the cover under the instrument panel?
Any thoughts?
