Hi all,
I have an SL320,1994, onwed this wonderful car since Aug:08. But sadly I now have a problem, I can not engage Reverse Gear, which has twice caused me to ask for assistance.
Please can anyone advise me if they have had the similar problem ??
and a possible solution that is not going to cost the earth !!

Its a gearbox out job and the KS clutch / gasket needs to be replaced. more in labour than parts

Peter by your description I'm assuming you can move the lever into R, the reverse lights come on but the engine just revs?

This is worded, " occasional no drive in reverse, or no power flow in reverse"

And described as leaky gasket on KS clutch, its the only thing listed, no 5th gear is the Y3/Y2 solenoid vlave

yes,I can select reverse, but the engine just revs. im the morning when the engine is cold I can get reverse, but not after running for a while.
have you had the same experience ?

I haven't, no but I've heard of speed sensors causing similar problems. Malcolm's diagnosis sounds reasonable - though not really the one you want to hear!

Go to your user CP top left,,find where you enter your Emanil address, enter it and click save changes at the botom.


This is the only listed fault for this, and it does fit the bill as sometimes it will work and other times not, the headline is occasionally no power flow in reverse
