Any tips for removing the bolts which couple the exhaust manifold to the exhaust (1989 190 2.0L). I assume it has to be done from below but I'm really struggling... I've tried WD40. Looks as though they are 13mm heads but even this is hard to tell.

I'm trying the remove the cylinder head ... eventually ... but can't get past this stage.

Thanks for any help ...

These can be very tight and corroded, try tapping on a 12mm socket and turning until they snap or undo.
if they snap then just remove the captive nut on the manifold with a chesil and replace wit a sutible bolt and nut.

Leave it on!!!!

Undoing it will be easier when the head is off.

Just undo it at the flange.

As i said, be brutle with them, they are very likely to snap but thts no problem as the bolts will be weak and need to be replaced anyway!!!
