Exhaust rattle ! CAT problem? Cost?

S500 year 2000 - I have a rattle coming from half way down the exhaust which appears to come from one of two cylinder chambers ( is it the CAT?).

Any ideas? if it is the CAT are we talking an arm & leg ?

Gen Mb Cats are expensive.

It needs a proper look over to see which CAT is causing the rattle (there are 4 of them on your car)

Its normally the lower ones that go, some folk cut them open and leave them out.

Thanks Malcolm and BlackC55- Merc dealer confirmed the drivers side under floor CAT cost inc labour £750! Sorry finger trouble the car is a S320 year 2000.
